Kokomo Defeats Cavemen in Sold Out Game

 

The Kokomo Jackrabbits and Hannibal Cavemen met Friday night to complete a two game series at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. The teams split the series, with the Jackrabbits claiming the final win, 6-4.

 

#3 Mark Zimmerman (Baldwin Wallace University) first got the Jackrabbits on the board in the first, moving the score to 2-1.

 

Zimmerman hit an RBI triple to score #14 Keaton Smith (Spring Hill College), then #5 Chris Klenk’s (University of Cincinnati) RBI scored Zimmerman to give the Jackrabbits the 3-2 lead in the second.

 

#25 Brad Hamilton (Kent State University) hit it up the middle to score #20 Shea Molitor (Valparaiso University). In the fifth, #8 CJ Price (Washington University in St. Louis) crossed the plate courtesy of #24 Blake Molitor’s (Illinois State University) RBI, extending the Jackrabbits lead to 5-2.

 

Klenk scored in the 7th off of Price's RBI to bring the Jackrabbits lead to 6-3. 

 

Pitcher, #4 Bryce Rainey was named Coca-Cola Player of the Game for throwing sixteen straight without picking up a run.

 

Kokomo heads to Butler, Pennsylvania tomorrow, August 1st, to begin a four-day road trip. The Jackrabbits will return to their home stadium on Wednesday, August 5th for a two game series against the Springfield Sliders at 6:35 p.m. This will mark the beginning of the “Island of Margaritaville” home stand and final two home games for the 2015 season.
