West Virginia evades Gold and Brown

August 4, 2016

KOKOMO, IND. – The bottom two spots of the Kokomo Jackrabbits’ line-up provided a large share of the home side’s seven-hit attack Thursday, August 4.

Shortstop Chris Amato of Kean University and Anderson University’s and Kokomo native Isaac Turner, playing in left field, tallied two hits apiece against a stout West Virginia Miners’ pitching quartet. Designated hitter Mitch Stoltzfus of Millersville University added an RBI single to give the Kokomo Municipal Stadium crowd of better than 1,800 something to cheer about, but, in the end, the first half Eastern Division champions got to the Jackrabbit’s staff for six tallies over the second through sixth innings in route to a 7-2 decision.

The Gold and Brown, dropping to 15-13 in the Prospect League’s second half and 30-28 overall, take to the road for a key clash with Western Division second half pennant-chasing Danville Friday, August 5. First pitch is 7:35 p.m. at Danville Stadium.
