KOKOMO, IND- The Terre Haute Rex are the 2018 Prospect League Champions after a two-game sweep of the Jackrabbits.

The Jackrabbits took an early 3-0 lead as starter Krystien Johnson-Battilana was perfect until the fifth inning when he gave up his first hit, a triple that later resulted in a run. Ultimately Battilana went six and two-thirds innings giving up three hits and three runs.

The Jackrabbits offense had a strong performance collecting eleven hits as a team. Three players, Sechen, Wilson and Sanchez had multiple hits on the night. Marcos Sanchez led the way for Kokomo with two RBI’s.

It took extra innings for the Rex to end the Jackrabbits record breaking season. This final Prospect League season was a special one indeed. The team caught fire as the calendar hit July including a winning streak that reached eight games. The strong regular season finish carried over into the playoffs as they defeated the Chillicothe Paints in three games to win the Prospect League’s East Division. A feat that had not previously been accomplished by the franchise. More good things are surely on the horizon for the Jackrabbits as they move to the Northwoods League next season.
