Despite loss, Jackrabbits Clinch A Playoff Birth

KOKOMO, IND- The Jackrabbits winning streak ends at eight games with today’s result. However, after a loss by the West Virginia Miners the Jackrabbits have officially clinched their second ever Prospect League playoff appearance.

Krystien Johnson-Battalana continues to impress on the mound for the Jackrabbits. He had another solid start going seven and two thirds innings giving up one run. Johnson-Battilana was the Coke Player of the Game,  he tallied six strikeouts allowing a couple of walks and six hits.

Ian Walters was the only Jackrabbit with multiple hits. He went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and a walk. John Sechen had the lone RBI for the Jackrabbits with a sacrifice fly that scored Alex Dorethy in the sixth inning.

The Jackrabbits still hold the top spot in the East Division with a two game lead over the Chillicothe Paints. They will return home Tuesday, July 31st to face the Quincy Gems. The two-game series will be the first and only time the Jackrabbits see the Gems at home this season.
