Jackrabbits win third straight, sweep Terre HauteJuly 3, 2016
TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Fueled by a third successive 10-plus-hits outing, the Kokomo Jackrabbits rolled to an 8-2 win over the Terre Haute Rex Saturday, July 2.
First baseman Clay Benefield of Indiana University - Southeast and outfielder Griffin Harms of Wayne State University topped the hit parade. Benefield smacked three singles and drove in two runs, while Harms tallied two hits and two RBI. The duos efforts helped the Gold and Brown (18-15 overall, 3-0 Prospect League second half) answer a 1-0 deficit through three frames with four-run sixth and three-run ninth inning rallies.
Lock Haven University’s Michael Anthony benefitted from the attack, moving to 6-1 on the season. He and relief pitchers Quentin Miller of Butler University and Ryne Underwood of Indiana University – Southeast combined to strike out nine home batters.
The Jackrabbits, holding a one-game lead on Chillicothe and Butler on the early second half Eastern Division standings, are scheduled to host the Danville Dans Sunday, July 3, at 6:35 p.m. as the contest start time was pushed back due to forecast inclement weather.
