Late innings rally boosts Gold and BrownJuly 25, 2016
QUINCY, ILL. – More positive outcomes from the Kokomo Jackrabbits’ bullpen helped lead the way to a key Prospect League road win Sunday, July 24.
The combo of Indiana University’s Parker Sanburn and Butler University’s Sam Hubbe proved unsolvable for the host Gems, as they shut them out on three hits, didn’t allow a walk and struck out one batter over the final four frames. Sanburn managed the win, and Hubbe picked up the save, as the offense, held scoreless for five innings, erupted for four runs over the sixth through eighth stanzas to top off a 4-2 Jackrabbits’ victory.
Baldwin-Wallace’s Cole Nieto continued his impressive second half play, cranking out a triple and home run as part of a two-hit, two-RBI, one-run scored evening at Quincy University Stadium. Mitch Stoltzfus of Millersville University added three safeties, and Kean University’s Chris Amato and Indiana University – Southeast’s Logan Barnes finished with two each. Nieto’s two-run big fly in the top of the eighth was the difference.
The Gold and Brown resume an eight-game road trip Tuesday, July 26, making their way to Chillicothe, Ohio, for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch against the Paints.
