Benefield, Barnes lead offense in road openerMay 28, 2016
QUINCY, ILL. – A six-run rally over the fourth through sixth innings brought the visiting Kokomo Jackrabbits back from a 6-0 deficit Saturday, May 28, but the host Quincy Gems answered with three tallies in the sixth and seventh frames to claim a 9-6 Prospects League victory.
First baseman Clay Benefield kept up his hot start to the 2016 campaign with a pair of singles and an RBI, as the Indiana University – Southeast product extended a modest hit streak to three games and upped his RBI total to three. Kokomo native Logan Barnes, getting his first start at second base, added a multiple-hit game of his own with two safeties. The fellow IU-Southeast player also registered an RBI.

He went five frames, allowing only four earned runs and striking out four. Butler University’s Quentin Miller was tabbed with the loss, surrendering three earned runs over two frames.
