July 15, 2017

LAFAYETTE, IND. – A pair of catchers had their names on Kokomo’s marquis during a Prospect League twinbill Saturday, July 15.

In the opener, Bailey Partlow upped his current hit skein to seven straight with his third successive multiple-hit effort. The Pasco-Hernando State product doubled and scored during a 7-4 Jackrabbits’ loss at the hands of the rival Lafayette Aviators.

The nightcap’s offensive highlights were steered by Collin Butkiewicz. The John A. Logan College player doubled and homered, scoring twice to help lift first-year field manager Gary McClure’s crew to an 8-4 victory at Loeb Stadium. Butkiewicz had plenty of support from infielder Chris Reid and outfielder Alex Del Rio who drove in two RBI apiece. Kokomo’s batting trio made a winner out of Rend Lake Community College’s Matt Herman in his first Jackrabbits’ pitching appearance. He went four innings, giving up just one hit.

The Jackrabbits return to Kokomo Municipal Stadium Sunday, July 16, for a 3:05 p.m. first pitch against Springfield. It’s Willy Wonka Candyland afternoon at KMS with golden ticket surprises and a kids’ club game on the docket along with the Sunday post-game catch, Super Soaker and kids running the bases on the schedule, too.
