Bullpen continues to dazzle for Jackrabbits

June 4, 2017

KOKOMO, IND. – The end of a weekend series against Prospect League Eastern Division leading Chillicothe might have wound up in a loss, but there was still a silver lining for manager Gary McClure and the Kokomo Jackrabbits.

In the midst of a 9-4 loss that dropped the home team to 2-4 on the young first half of 2017, the guys from the Brown and Gold bullpen got some cheers from better than 1,000 fans at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. After the Paints posted nine runs over the first four frames, the trio of Josh Konecek, Quintin Miller and Breton LaRose were in lock down mode.

The trio struck out seven visiting hitters and didn’t give up a hit over the final four frames. With that effort on the mound, the offense managed to trim a once 9-2 deficit to 9-4 but could get no closer. Offensive statistical highlights went to designated hitter Alex Del Rio who turned in two hits and shortstop Andrew Curran who scored twice.

Kokomo looks to stop a three-game skid Tuesday, June 6, as Lafayette visits KMS to continue the Battle for State Highway 26 at 6:35 p.m. It’s the second $2 Tuesday of the season as fans can get soda, hot dogs, burgers and beer for $2 each.
