Lee gem lifts Jackrabbits past Hannibal

July 31, 2016

KOKOMO, IND. – University of Missouri hurler Ryan Lee picked a great time to piece together a dandy starting effort Saturday, July 30.

Lee baffled the visiting Hannibal Cavemen to the tune of 10 strikeouts over seven innings. He and Millersville University’s Matt Ulrich and Indiana University – Southeast’s Ryne Underwood combined for a four-hit shutout as part of a 4-0 Kokomo Jackrabbits’ Prospect League victory at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.

The Gold and Brown offense also brought an enthusiastic crowd of better than 2,000 fans to its feet during a four-run fifth inning rally that broke up a scoreless draw. Millersville University’s Mitch Stoltzfus and Southern New Hampshire University’s Josh Zbierski rattled run-scoring singles and Baldwin-Wallace University’s Cole Nieto plated a run with a sacrifice fly.

Kokomo (14-10 PL second half, 29-25 overall) kept its half-game edge on the red-hot Champion City Kings with the victory. The Jackrabbits conclude the two-game home set against Hannibal Sunday, July 31. First pitch is 3:05 p.m.
