July 23, 2016

HANNIBAL, MO. – Indiana University – South Bend’s Trey Bickel and Lock Haven University’s Mike Anthony proved an effective one-two punch Friday, July 22, leading the Kokomo Jackrabbits to a Prospect League sweep at Clemens Field.

Bickel silenced the host Hannibal Cavemen to just five hits while striking three in route to a 7-0 game win victory. Anthony was just as sharp in the nightcap, fanning 10 home side hitters, during a 5-1 Gold and Brown decision.

Kokomo, improving to 10-7 in the second half and 25-22 overall, remained just one game behind West Virginia with the doubleheader sweep. Outfielder Griffin Harms of Wayne State University doubled and tripled as part of a three-hit effort in game two, while infielder Ryan Hutchinson of Illinois State University and outfielders Cole Nieto of Baldwin-Wallace and Alex Del Rio of the University of Missouri collected two RBIs each in the opener.

The Jackrabbits resume an eight-game road trip Saturday, July 23, beginning a two-game series at Quincy. First pitch is 7:35 p.m.
