Offensive outburst starts home stand on high note

June 3, 2016

KOKOMO, IND. – Three Kokomo Jackrabbits turned in multiple-hit outings, guiding the home team to an impressive 11-5 victory over the Hannibal Cavemen Friday, June 3.

Bouncing back from a pair of nip-and-tuck losses on the road at Springfield June 1 and 2, the Jackrabbits (3-5) jumped on visiting starting pitcher Dalton Overstreet to the tune of four runs on seven hits over three innings with six free passes added in. It was more than enough to support a good starting effort from Lock Haven University’s Michael Anthony. Anthony struck out three and was touched for just one earned run over six innings.

The crowd of better than 1500 celebrating night one of Jax’s 90s Workout Party celebration had plenty to cheer about as the Jackrabbits registered double-digit runs for the third time in eight games. East Tennessee State’s Lance May crushed his second home run in four contests; Emporia State University’s Wade Hanna tripled, scored twice and drove in two runs; the University of Missouri’s Alex Del Rio, who hails from nearby Munster, made himself at home quickly at Kokomo Municipal Stadium with two hits; and Kokomo native and Indiana University – Southeast’s Logan Barnes doubled among a two-safety evening.

The three-game home stand resumes Saturday, June 4, against Hannibal at 7:05 p.m. for night two of Jax’s 90s Workout Party promotion.
